How we are meeting
The Church is not a Building but a Body. The Body of God's people in Cambray Baptist Church continues to meet in many different ways and continues to have a vibrant community in these times. You can find out more about this below.
During this time of renewed 'lock down' Cambray has once again moved online. Our Sunday Morning Service premieres at 10:30am from our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/CambrayBaptistChurch/videos
Once Lockdown finishes and Churches are permitted to meet:
You will need to 'book' into the service in the week before so that we can seat all who want to come in a 'socially distanced' way. Please use the Booking link in the 'Whats On' menu at the top of this page.
We know that some people will be unable to join us or will be shielding. We are therefore Live-streaming our Sunday Service each week on our Youtube Channel. It will be available by 10:30am each Sunday morning, and the live-stream recording will be available from the end of the service if you want to join us later in the day.
Our online Sunday Youth meeting and activities for children are advertised weekly in our email newsheet. If you are not receiving this, please contact the Church Office.
During the week a 'virtual prayer meeting' is held each Thursday evening ... see the Church Calendar for details of how to join in!
Wherever possible, each Small Group is holding their own 'virtual' meetings through Zoom virtual Conferencing or other online tools. See your Small Group leader for details.
If you have come into Cheltenham for the first time and you want to join a Small Group during this time of crisis, please use our Small Groups page to contact the Small Groups Coordinator who will link you to a group.
Our Youth are also meeting regularly using Zoom. Their meetings are also being announced through the Church Calendar.
Pastoral Care is being provided through Small Groups and their associated Care Groups. If you are not currently a part of one of our Small Groups and would like to join, see our Small Groups page to contact the Small Groups Coordinator.
In addition, through our Small Groups we are pairing all our people up by forming 'Prayer Partners'. Again, contact your Small Group Leader for more details.
We also have a large
central Pastoral Care team able to respond to situations as they arise -
contact one of the Pastors if you need to access this. Similarly we have a large group of people who are willing to Help Practically - if you need help in collecting shopping, medication or with hospital trips.
To get to the church building, use this link to find DIRECTIONS TO CAMBRAY or use the map below.
When you arrive for the Sunday Service
To facilitate Social Distancing you may need to queue up using the social distancing markers before you enter the church. If the weather is inclement we apologise for the wait to enter. If you have mobility difficulties, there are purpose-built ramps for wheelchair access to the main church.
Please queue and enter using the door that corresponds with the side of the church in which you have been allocated a seat from our online Booking System.
When you come into the building, someone will greet you at the door and direct you towards your seating area, ad towards the hand-sanitizing stations which you may wish to use before you take your seat.
Please sit in the seat allocated to you. If you are a visitor and have not pre-booked, please sit in the seat you are directed to. Please do not take a seat that has been allocated to another person - you will be asked to move.
Please remain in your seat throughout the church service. The seats enable us to ensure adequate social distancing while you are within the church building.
If you want to listen using the induction loop (for those with hearing difficulties) you will find it works best if you sit towards the centre, downstairs. If you use a hearing aid, please switch it to the loop ('T') setting.
We have limited access to toilets, on a one-in one-out system. Toilets can be found through the door to the left hand side of the stage at the front of the church. You may have to queue (socially distanced) in the corridor. When you leave the toilet you should follow the arrows through the School Room to as to follow the one-way system that is currently in place.
What's the Sunday Service like?
We have shortened our services for this time of restrictions due to Coronavirus. The service will typically last about 45 minutes and will normally consist of music, Bible reading(s), prayers and a talk.
If you have children, they must be kept with you. Our usual fun-filled Bible groups (Glow Sundays and Sunday Youth) are not available at present. We do have a 'self-service' crèche
for the under 3s if you need to take the youngest children out, and the service is live-streamed into the crèche room.
No offering or collection is taken. Rather Church members are encouraged to give directly through the banking system. However for those who wish to give cash, boxes are available by the doors on the way out.
We have had to cancel our normal fellowship time over tea or coffee after church in order to comply with current regulations. At the end of the service we will 'release' a household or 'bubble' at a time so that social distancing is maintained as people leave. But we do encourage you to catch up (socially distanced) with others you know from the church once you leave the church building.
